I bought Space Engineers in the Steam Sale the other day, and I’ve been trying to get started.

There’s a tutorial button in game, so I clicked it and… “First, we recommend you watch this 5 minute video”. The video, on youtube, is 13 minutes long. I watched it, but it doesn’t actually cover the current version - it was released in October last year, before Space Engineers had a Survival mode, which is what the Quick Start option puts you into.

Anyway, I could go on for some time about my adventures in trying to figure out Space Engineers, but it seems this is the way some indie devs are going now. I can certainly see why from their point of view - it’s very easy, and they don’t have to do any of that boring “programming a tutorial” nonsense, or actually write out a guide of any kind. But it makes it really hard to find specifics within the videos.

I blame Minecraft. They got away with it, and now everyone wants to.
