The war was unwinnable. The people of Vietnam didn’t have the “will” to fight against communism, fer crying out loud. Most wanted to be left alone to grow their rice and survive. And maybe even prosper.
The U.S. would have had to control the whole freakin’ country to prevail, and that would have been a fool’s game.
We didn’t belong there. Blaming the politicians is pointless.

it was the politicians that decided we needed to go there. next war, why don’t the politicians from both sides fight it out and leave the people alone. maybe the parliments of india and pakistan to go somewhere and play paintball, winner takes cashmere.
