More effective than alcohol in killing microorganisms? Most likely.
More effective than alcohol at reducing the microorganisms on your hands? Probably not.
More effective than alcohol at reducing your incidents of illness? Probably not.

Viruses don’t exist by themselves on your hands. Viruses are in other material which is on your hands.
Washing the other material off of your hands removes the viruses as well.

Anti-microbial soap is not more effective than regular soap when it comes to hand washing.
Bacteria get washed off of your hands whether there is triclosan mixed with the soap or not.

Plain soap as effective as antibacterial but without the risk

Moreover, antibacterial soaps at formulations sold to the public do not remove any more bacteria from the hands during washing than plain soaps.

I’d skip mucking about with bleach and alcohol.
Plain old soap and water are effective enough for everyday use.

Antibacterial soap is a redundancy.

And that triclosan is some real evil shit. I am so sensitive to it now that even one hand washing with it will leave horrid oozing sores for a month. And, often the only soap available has loads of the stuff.

I hope FDA follows Europe’s lead and bans it.
