Vinyl cool, CD not. Why?

Tangled up around the capstan, I suppose.

Wow. For 80k you can probably just hire the original musicians to play in your living room.

For you folks that are gaga over vinyl, I’ve got a tub full of 45s that need a home. All in excellent condition with original sleeves. Also a couple of boxes of LPs. Yeah, didn’t think so.

Believe it or not, nostalgia for cassettes does exist.

Yup. I was just at Goat’s show at The Black Cat last night, and their opening band (Holy Wave) had cassettes for sale. So does Your Skull. (They were also selling cassette players, which I thought was prudent.) And a plethora of other indie/smaller bands do the same, I’m sure.

Slight tangent – I actaully did get that from CDs, for awhile. Does anyone remember in the late 80s/early 90s, CDS would be packaged in these long boxes, about twice the length of the CD itself (half of the box was empty space)? I think it was for the benefit of stores who still had racks upon racks designed to display albums, since these boxes were about the same length as an album cover. Well, I used to take the fronts off of these boxes and hang them on my bedroom wall.

So I’m nostalgic for that, at least. Not so much for the CDs themselves.
