You’re not listening **andros**. Your definitoin of what a witch is may not be what a witch’s definition of what a witch is. and THEREFORE, you cannot make assumptions as to what his belief system may be.

In one paragraph you want him to “act in accordance with his beliefs.”

In the next you concede you “don’t know what he believes.”  
Fact is, you really don’t. I’m a witch myself, and neither do I.

Now, I seem to recall something about children being called bastards…

I have made no assumptions about **Virgo** ’s behavior. Nor did I bring up his religion. He did, in his username, if you’ll recall. I’m not judging him on that basis, and think you’ll find _I’m not one of the people telling him he’s not a witch or shouldn’t be calling himself one._

You’re right. As I’ve said, oh, at least a couple of times now, I _don’t_ know what being a Witch means to him, or if using hurtful language . _That’s why I asked._

Here, I’ll put it more plainly:

**Virgowitch** : How do you reconcile your professed beliefs with your previously-cited hurtful language? _Is_ there anything to reconcile?

Actually, my intention was to remind **Vir_go_Witch** that his actions were having consequences and ask if he was prepared to accept the consequences of his actions as delivered by the denizens of the SDMB.

Speaking of consequences, by the way, I accidentally misspelled **VirgoWitch** ’s name earlier, and I do apologize. It really was unintentional.

**Witch**

I’m the one who started all the hooplah about him not calling himself a Witch. For that, I apologize. I didn’t mean to start this little tizzy in here. I was operating under the assumption that _for the most part_ a great majority of Witches operate under a similar, general, basic way of life. They may worship different dieties, some may not be Wiccan, but the most basic, fundemental way of living by doing harm unto none is in my opinion, followed by most. I wasn’t expecting a barrage of nitpicking about how each and every individual Witch may have a slightly different interpretation or whatnot. I believe that goes without saying.

**Andros** was making no assumptions, as I was, but simply asking **Virgo** for clarification. I think you may have mixed him up with me.

I take full responsibility for this hijack and apologize profusely.

Now, would you rank him that high? **Lolo** of not-so-fond memory, now **there** was a grade-A asshole.

Seriously, let’s give **VirgoWitch** the benefit of the doubt for a bit longer – I find his posts egregiously insulting to a lot of people I like, including yourself, **Esprix**. But he’s welcome to post the rationale for the various things he’s said, and stand up for his opinions, giving reasons why he holds them.

If, of course, he chooses to continue to do drive-by insults, we would be justified in alerting a moderator to someone pursuing trollery. (Again I stress that I’m not making that accusation, just observing the proper course in a hypothetical situation, hence the “if” at the beginning of that sentence. And **if** he chooses that option, I will not post my opinion but e-mail a mod. or report the post.)

How long does your benefit of the doubt stretch, **Poly**? I guess I’m just getting cranky in my old age, but he’s gone way past three strikes to me.

I also note he hasn’t bothered to come back to this thread. I guess we’re just all “beneath” him. :rolleyes: (Yeah, that attitude will make you friends around here. I look forward to his eventual banning.)

Over 40 spanking hot howlers. Life is good. As an Erisian, I must say that I feel fulfilled and satisfied that I have done my part to make the world a better place. Or at least more interesting.

If this refers to my comments on illegitimate children, every other Witch I know feels the same way. I don’t think it is specifically a Witch value, it comes from the way people were raised, from family tradition.

Simply and succinctly stating my opinion in a thread is neither a drive-by posting nor trolling. It means I?ve said all that I need to say and any further debate isn?t worth pursuing. Learn the difference between a different opinion and an insult. Honestly, the Merchant Ivory umbrage of some people when you post an opinion contrary to their own?
