# Vote for the new Seven Wonders

I read about this website called [New7Wonders.com](http://www.new7wonders.com/), and went to take a peek. This group, I don’t know who they are or what there angle is, is conducting a vote for the new seven wonders of the world. The announcement of the winners will take place on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07).
There are 21 finalists to chose from. I don’t know how they were selected and I doubt that everyone will agree with the choices and ommisions, but who cares. This will be about bragging rights- we bestow an honorary title on who ever gets the selection correct, or has the most out of 7.
My choices are, in no particular order:
Easter Island Statues
Great Wall
Hagia Sophia
Machu Picchu
Stonehenge
Taj Mahal
Pyramids of Giza (hey they were good enough for the first list, they’re good enough for this one as well).

I find it kind of funny that the newest thing in the OP’s list is from, uh, about 1000 years ago, give or take a century?

I think passing the test of time is part of the qualifications to be on the list. Look at what happened to the previous list! They were all novelties and in a few centuries they were all gone.

Also, the Statue of Liberty and Eiffle Tower are a lot less than 1000 years old.

I was referring not to the rides but the fact that it is essentially one vast single building which goes below the water table. Quite an engineering feat, more elaborate by far than the hanging gardens, etc.

I worked there in the late 80s.
The underground tunnel system is _amazing!_
What goes on backstage is as impressive as what goes on out front!
