Well, if a complete lack of credibility is a requirement I would suggest Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Seems perfect in many ways. ---

I’m going to say Trump will select Chris Christie. Other possibilities might be Bob Corker or Jeff Sessions. But Christie probably, as much of a pathetic lapdog as he has been, is probably someone who could do well in debates. He also brings at least some maturity and political experience to the table. No, he’s not the ideal, but he’s probably the best of what’s left and he’s the one guy who has supported Trump throughout the race. Hillary will probably have little choice but to select Elizabeth Warren. She needs the Bernie supporters. And while she still might not get those who are supporting Jill Stein, I think she might get those who are on the fence and wondering whether to vote at all. ---

Trump will announce Monday of convention week to perhaps defuse the coup that may be brewing at the time. If they’re near the tipping point of taking the nomination away, perhaps a qualified choice will be enough to stop them from changing the rules. The when for Hillary depends on the who. If it’s Warren, by all means rain on Trump’s parade and announce just before he takes the podium to accept his nomination. If it’s someone more conventional (more likely with the risk-averse Hillary), then look for it say on the Tuesday of the Dem convention. ---

Elizabeth Warren as her #2 won’t bring them over. Hillary needs to appeal to the middle and the reasonable-right at this point. Those voters _greatly_ outnumber the sliver of disgruntled Bernie supporters. ---

I love, love, love Warren, but she would not be a very good VP choice. - she’s old, like Hillary - she hasn’t been in public service all that long; is she ready to step into the Oval Office with little or no notice? - she’s very valuable to have in the Senate Now, on the positive side: - she’s a great attack dog. But they’ve already got an opponent who’s easy to attack. - she’s a darling of the progressive base of the party. But they’re not going to vote for Trump anyway, and there are better candidates with equally progressive bona fides. I’m expecting Clinton to select a Gen-Xer, not another Baby Boomer. ETA: Trump’s options are much more limited. Willing, credible candidates will be very few. ---

All of those centrists who can’t stomach voting for Clinton or Trump might be persuaded by a reasonable VP. ---

As far as Trump’s Veep announcement, I think it will be heavily dependent on the WWF event calendar. ---

Hilary needs to pick up Bernie supporters, but she also needs to attract Repubs and independents who are turned off by Trump. A centrist VP pick is more likely to pick up those ones (to the extent a VP pick really does attract voters.)
