There are nine million (count 'en) nine million illegal aliens in this country today. You see them in fields picking cotton. You see them in schools getting educated. You see them in hospitals getting doctored. You see them in unemployment lines getting employed. You see them driving about with legal driver licence granted by the state. But to our wacky, silly, out of whack, state, federal and local governments these ubiquitous illegal people don’t exist.
Hmm…a sane man might wonder, that’s funny, our governments would count a pig as a person if the pig had any money to tax, so why can’t they see these people? Why are these people invisible?
Ah ha! We the people of the United States have been given a strange new policy, or rather, non-policy. This non-policy is only peripherally written into formal laws, mostly it is a secret administrative non-policy called “ssh…don’t ask - don’t tell.”
It works this way…
A policeman pulls over a fellow for running a red-light. The man speaks no english and has no drivers licence. He is carried to jail. He is assigned a translator by the courts who finds out that he is an illegal alien. Good.
But the immigration department has let it be known that they too busy keeping out illegal terriosts and such to attend to the deportation of routine, run-of-the-mill illegal aliens, so buzz off, local cops, go do what you think best.
The next day in court the alien’s court appointed attorney rightfully points out that his client can’t get a driver licence because he is a alien so that charge against his client should be dropped. Furthermore, he offers, this is his clients third appearance in court for drunk driving and as two years jail time is mandatory upon coviction, but his clients home is in Guatemala it would be impossible to have a fair trial here in the United States, a place where his client’s has no territorial peers. He then pleas for the dismissal of all charges so his client can turn his self in to the Department of Immigration so he can be safely be returned to the land he loves.
But the judge is crafty. A new law has been passed that allows illegal people to get a state drivers licence. And then the judge refers to the new Motor Voter Act which declares that all people with a legimate driver’s licence are allowed to vote. Then citing a fundamental fact of common law which is * only the legal citizens of the territory that holds the election and will be governed by the results of the election can vote* , the judge rules that the defendent has de facto voting rights and is therefore a legal citizen of the United States of America, and then sentences him to two years in the state pen.
Later a three judge panel from the 3rd District Court in California expanded the ruling and made all citizens of Mexico citizens of California.
