Sometimes bleeping can be funnier than hearing the real word, especially if a character is really going at it, with a whole series of bleeps. It calls attention to the fact that there’s cussing going on. So far, fortunately, the FCC only censors the airwaves. Sanctimonious assholes like Michael Powell are thinking about getting their paws on cable, though, even premium cable. Imagine “The Sopranos” with bleeps. Ridiculous fuckin’ idea. ---
