Since **BBBobbio** can’t post his story till noon, and it’s still 40 hours till the inaugural hockey tailgate of the 2010-2011 NHL season(Yay! Woohoo!), I’d thought I’d start off with random filler for the week. Gordie’s hair doesn’t just stand up when he’s agitated, his head hair stands up, too. Sort of an anger mohawk. ---

I forgot to tell you guys! When I was at the dog park on Saturday, we were at one end of two different swimming ponds. It was pretty deserted, and out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving at one end of the pond. A huge dinner-plate sized turtle came up out of the pond, and was eating some, um, er…doggie spit up that was on the shore. The dogs never noticed him, but I saw his nose sticking out when I walked by. He was cool. 🙂 We went to watch Texans football at the sports bar I frequent. They recently remodeled and have new big screen HD TVs. It was great! And we won! woot! I made baked chicken and roasted veggies for dinner. So good, you woudn’t believe. Mmm. See y’all tomorrow… ---

(popping back in after a long absence, joins the crowd waiting for **Bobbio** ) Technically it’s not Monday here for another 40 minutes or so, but what the hell. Pretty uneventful here this evening. Went to Tarzhay for khakis for the Princess to wear as part of her costume for the hip-hop portion of her dance recital on Thursday. When we returned, 2 of my sisters dropped by, and we looked at some old photos with my parents - they’re organizing our grandmother’s 90th birthday party, and they want to make a photo collage for her with pictures of her and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I think one of my BILs posted some of our most embarrassing \*high school photos on Facebook, will have to check later. Din-din was pork chops, rice and romaine and frisee salad with miso dressing (hey, I live in California, so I can get away with it)😃 OK, off to bed. Will check in tomorrow, if I can. \*homemade Halloween costumes, big 80s hair, etc. ---

If **BBBobbio** isn’t posting until it’s lunchtime where he is, I’ll be nearly going home by then! How can I possibly be expected to wait that long? Still no hot water at home, I rang the guy who installed the system this morning and he is coming round in the morning to look at it. He asked me to ring him when I get back home tonight and run the hot water tap so I can tell him which lights, if any, are lit up on the front of the boiler. Fun times… ---

Nag, nag, nag. Y’all are as bad as VWife. Cottonfield County is one of the top ten poorest in North Carliner, and I’m not bragging when I claim my high five figure salary makes me wealthy where I live. I wish I could keep some of what I bring home, but that’s a rant for another day. Yesterday afternoon, SWMBO sent me off to the Cottonfield County Shopping Mall (AKA Dollar General) to fetch a can of spray starch for her current sewing project. I got in line behind one family that I know by face, and another one was behind me. The family behind me was typical for the working poor in the county. There were four of them, Mom, Dad, a duaghter who was 8-9ish, and a son that was 6 or 7. The boy had a container of powdered lemonade mix. He spotted the son of the family in front, and they started talking like old friends. They probably were, because there’s only 3 elementary schools in the district… The kid behind announced that he was getting the lemonade mix, because he was going to open a lemonade stand when he got home so he could get some money. Dad sort of rolled his eyes and said, “I don’t know where he came up with that. We live in the middle of nowhere.” Yeah, most of the county is in the middle of nowhere, so I fell for ya, dude. Heart-hearted bastard that I am, I got a little idea in my head, and pulled an extra one out of my wallet. A different register opened, and the family behind went there, while I checked out on mine. My total came to $3.23, and I had a five. Figuring a second grader would be more impressed with a number of coins over a single bill, I pocketed the one. They started out the door, and I said, “Hey buddy, c’mere.” I handed him the change and said, “You just made your first sale.” He went :eek:, and Dad said “Thank you” very quietly. It made my day… ---

Good on ya, **Bobbio**. You may have encouraged a future lemonade CEO who will bring vast lemonade fortunes to the Gates of Hell. Hey, it’s hot out there in the summer! People might like some roadside lemonade stands. The Boys tied a few on last night and they had to get up at 7 to go to work/school. I tied \*\*one \*\*on and also got up at 7. The difference is that I’m not hungover. 😃 One of my friends posted [this video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKTXJUYiAT4) on Facebook last night and now I’m in the mood to listen to bluegrass covers of rock songs. Off to an extremely boring and frustrating morning. I have a lot to get done, but my code is running sloooooooooooooooooooooooowly. I am full of grrrr. I brought in coffee cake, which disappeared quickly. I should bake breakfast treats more often. ---

I went to the grocery store yesterday to get aq few things, (yeah, right!). Last night, as I was pulling things out of my pockets, I pulled out the coupon for the orange juice I bought. From now on I should just write on the bottom of my shopping list “Pull the coupons out of your pocket, you senile old fart!” Maybe I should have my friend make me up a notepad with that printed on it. Tired from faire. It turns out it’s only one weekend, so next weekend gets to be projects. ☹ No taijitsu this week because the instructor and the wealthy students are in Japan. ☹ ☹ Which does give me time to get everything cleaned up, but still… I found out I only have one Pirate shirt left, because I got rid of the others, because one was black which I don’t look good in, and the other two were stained/worn out. You know what that means? Thrift store shopping! Bought rings and pins for my hat. Oh and the stupidity of the weekend: we weren’t allowed alcohol on site, just at the camp sites, unless it was bought from a booze vendor. :dubious: No booze… at Faire… what?! Yeah, so everybody still had flasks but they were filled with ‘iced tea’, ‘fruit juice’ and ‘water’. But it did limit the drinking and drunkeness, which is a shame, because that’s half the fun (not being drunk, but watching the drunks). Basically the Park wants us gone, is my thought. ---
