Is there ever advanced indication of when to expect a ruling, or do they just drop it suddenly and without warning? You’d think somebody in the building would be generating buzz about it.
And somewhere on another board someone is saying the same thing about, for instance, Kagan and the liberals.
Yes, the idea that Scalia takes orders from anyone is whacky. If anything, he’s independent.
They drop it without any warning. It’s always that way.
Washington and Jefferson thought so, too. Blame John Jay.
There is talk - pure speculation of course - that it will come today.
The White House and liberal groups are busy setting the stage that if it overturns ACA, it’s political. While somehow if it doesn’t, it’s not political. That’s in line with Obama’s silly “unprecedented” comment earlier this year. It’s a cynical game they’re playing.
And I am an Obama supporter, so nobody can accuse me of being political in my opinion about this.
You are being political in your opinion about this.
And they drop one and it’s the WRONG one.
Supreme Court throws out FCC policy on curse words and nudity on TV
I read somewhere that SCOTUS usually meets at 10am to release their opinions on the days they have opinions to announce. The author of the opinion announces it from the bench. Said they go from least senior to most senior.
Not sure how accurate that rundown is.
Not for all of them.
Here’s the Court’s website where anyone can follow opinions directly:
So since they didn’t release it today does that mean that they are still dotting Is and crossing Ts? Or are they just fucking with us because they can?
Or they’re still, like, working on it.
I believe the general opinion is that it will be the last decision released. Since there are 5 more besides this one (at least that’s what I read), there’s a good chance it won’t be Monday either.
That or they’re working on the TV spectacular described up-thread.
Never forget that tomorrow’s a Friday. They can issue it and get out of town.
They’re going to get LeBron James to host a two hour special to announce the verdict.
No matter which way it goes, Republicans are ready:
Mourdock Accidentally Releases Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Reaction To ‘Obamacare’
I thought it was only Mondays and Thursdays when they issued their decisions. Could be wrong…
LOL nice find.
No matter which way the decision goes ALL political parties are ready to make an appropriate response. Not just Mourdock. Not just Republicans. Considering how fast various responses have been issued (on almost any subject) in the recent past, the airwaves and the internet will be inundated with responses to the SC’s four expected rulings on O’bamacare. Anyone who isn’t PREPARED to respond immediately will be lost in the rhetoric for days (weeks? ever?).
“Like the vast majority of Hoosiers, Richard hopes the Supreme Court strikes down ObamaCare, which our opponent Joe Donnelly dutifully supported. But as the Boy Scouts say, ‘be prepared.’”
I doubt that Mourdock, or any other politician, would decide to put these types of videos on line. Whoever posted the videos “was not a friend” Mourdock’s campaign. I’m only guessing but the early release seems to be an attempt to embareass a candidate. (Not that polittions need any help embareassing themselves.)
