Rather than bumping [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=327371&page=1&pp=50&highlight=gromit), I figured I’d start a new one to commemorate the film’s opening in the US.

I just got back from seeing this and absolutely loved it. I’m not sure why I was was worried about how well the concept would work in feature-length; it seemed as natural to me as anything. And I’ll grant that it’s been a while since I’ve watched the shorts, but it seems to me that the verbal and visual punnery in _Were-Rabbit_ topped any of the previous W&G films.

Alright…so, have I mentioned I loved it? Who else has seen it? What’d you think of it?

Loved it. We’ve been looking forward to that movie for a long time. Are spoilers OK? Because…

I totally knew that the were-rabbit was going to turn out to be Wallace, even before I saw the movie, just from the title.

But…

What really made it neat was the rabbit turning into Wallace at the same time. I couldn’t pretend I saw that coming. It was hilarious.

Saw the movie last night; loved it; definitely more twists than any of the previous productions.

I for one, predicted the second; I didnt think the first would happen.

Yes, boxed spoilers are fine.

And I also figured out the second, but didn’t see the first coming! It’s very rare, even for a movie I’ve enjoyed, that I’d consider going to see it a second time in the theater, but this might be a rare exception.

Well, some of the reviews have been hinting at, if not giving away, that particular plot point.

Saw it and loved it. I’ve seen this and Corpse Bride, and this totally blows CB out of the water. It was warm, funny, you got the feeling that the makers really loved the characters and what they were doing. Corpse was a corporate “look what we can do” film, and W&G was a fun family film for all ages. Tons of jokes for everyone, I’d never seen the show, and now I want more.

</div>

Just got back and I loved it. Kids loved it too. Guenivere is 8 and Kevin is 5.
Look for a few nods to classics. Harvey and Bugs Bunny in particular.

Lots of little movie jokes, the dog fight was reminiscient of Flying Aces and of couse a few King Kong scenes.

The entire audience really seemed to love it and the shows were selling out.
Should get us a second W&G movie in the future.

Yeah, the theater on Third Avenue and 11th Street, Manhattan, was jammed.

15-year-old Pianola had to point out the “Pen 15” joke to me, afterward (it was what was written on the chute-drawer that Gromit shovelled the sliced carrots down.)

“Pen 15” can be read as “penis.”

</div>

Just got back from seeing it. I was surprised that I didn’t laugh during the movie, not as funny as I’d hoped, yet it was gripping to see what would happen.
The best part, for me, was the first bunny that got caught kept trying to punch them and couldn’t reach. Thats not a spoiler, I hope.

It was great. Little Miss Winterbottom, age 5, yelled out “Good one, Gromit!” when he dressed Quartermaine in a bunny suit and “Fly up high, Gromit!” during the dogfight. (I’ve never seen her so caught up in a show that she shouts at the characters.)

It was a great night out. We hope the box office returns for the weekend are good.

Just great. 10 out of 10. I loved it. I’m going to see it again and again. It was much better than _Cats_.

Favorite gags were the lightning going off every time they said “bullet,” and of course “May contain nuts.” And plenty more but if I get started I won’t be able to stop.

I didn’t think they could hold up the feel of the shorts for the whole 90 minutes, either, but they sure did. I’d say I liked it almost as much as “The Wrong Trousers.” Which I have to go buy now.

The _Madagascar_ short was really funny as well – I pretty much ignored the movie when it came out, but now I wonder if it was worth seeing.

Just saw it. Awesome! Easily as good as any of the shorts.

“May contain nuts” 🙂

Which mirrored the scary organ music in the church earlier, which lasted until somebody turns around and tells the church organist to shove off.

Definitely a winner. My favorite moment was

the two dogs running out of coins.

I also loved

The rabbits floating around in freefall inside the rabbit vacuum

I wasn’t really planning to see this movie, and I’ve never seen any Wallace & Gromit shorts, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to check out the thread. I am laughing so hard at the quotes and comments. Out of context, this movie is hysterical.

“May contain nuts” – I have no idea why it’s so funny, but it is.

But nothing compares to **MaxTheVool’s** two spoilers.

Now I may have to see this movie just to figure out

Why the dogs needed coins, and what the heck a rabbit vacuum is

I loved:

The references to King Kong. (With biplanes too!)

And the parody to Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer’s penchant of blowing-up even things that could not blow-up:

When the coin operated biplane crashes and turns into a conspicuous huge ball of fire!

I enjoyed the movie, but both my wife and I found it slow to develop, and were a bit bored for the first half of the movie. Judging from my four year old son’s fidgeting until the second half, I’d say the same was true for him.

Still worth a look, especially once it gets rolling.
