Well, I would just have said “Clinton” in this context. But if you do say “Mrs. Clinton,” you should also say “Mr. Trump.”

Well, there’s only one prominent politician named “Trump”, but there are two named “Clinton”, who can be disambiguated by “Mr.” or “Mrs.”. Though usually, just “Clinton” by itself is enough nowadays, since Mr. Clinton has been mostly on the sidelines for nearly the past two decades.

This.

And I suspect that his lawyers have informed him that the best way to stay out of prison is to remain president. It’s not clear if he can be indicted with out being impeached first. He has the spineless republicans in the Senate (for now) to protect him.

If he can build a few miles of wall, he has a great photo op for his supporters. Fewer will see the truth of this massive con job and vote for him again in 2020. Trump stays out of prison if he can somehow pull the wool over their eyes again.

People don’t appreciate how much work it took to issue all those executive orders. The poor man has had to sign his name seventy-seven separate times in just a two year period. _That’s over three signatures a month!_ Nobody told him the being President would require that level of inhuman effort.

Ungrateful subjects. They don’t deserve a wall.

trump supporters want a wall for a simple reason, they’re simple. A physical barrier is at the limits of their ability to comprehend. If it doesn’t work then Og say: Make wall bigger. (The “smarter” among them might come up with the idea of building _two_ walls. “And then when they climb over the _first_ wall, they see, huh huh, _another_ wall.” “Genius, and we can put a sign on the second wall saying ‘two of fifty’.”)

They don’t won’t can’t get things like drones and the like.

I understand why (some) Trump supporters want a wall, my question was why does Trump want one?
He doesn’t just want it, he has really set his teeth in this ridiculous concept. I cannot think of any other of his campaign promises that het put a similar amount of effort in.

That’s why I suspect an ulterior motive. Maybe he doesn’t want to keep Mexicans out, but is he more concerned about keeping Melania in?

Maybe he is anticipating playing handball for the rest of his days and requires lots of wall space?

Maybe one of his daughter companies is a Mexican ladder manufacturer?

There has to be something. The alternative is that the 45th president is indeed…well…a few bricks short of a wall.

> But yea, I think respectable leaders should not be referred to by their first name. In the case of **Mrs. Clinton** , I suspect it was a well-advised marketing decision to focus on her first name (and drop the maiden name which she used to carry), but still I think it’s demeaning.
> You don’t hear people speak about president Donnie, do you? Yet \*president Trump \*(who I will refer to as such, even though I have little respect for the man) perpetually uses first names to address his opponents (e.g Hillary, “Chuck and Nancy”, etc.) as part of his belittlement strategies.

There’s a wonderful thread in The Pit dedicated entirely to discussion of how best to address our President.

He’s only demanding one because he promised one, and the promise drove morons crazy across the land. He doesn’t really \*want \*one, imo. He doesn’t really give a crap, but he doesn’t want to “lose”. That’s all he’s up to.

I’ll also repeat what I and others have said above: he doesn’t really care about the wall itself. (If he did, he would have actually engaged in real negotiation for it.)

All he actually wants is just to put on the show of “fighting” for a wall, because he knows that appeals to the dumb-asses who support him. Just about everything he does is all part of this dog-and-pony show. Surely you’ve come to realize this by now. Trump is nothing but cheap political theatrics.

One other thing. The man is so vain and narcissistic, he doesn’t care about the effectiveness of such an endeavor, or the damage it would do.

He just wants to put his name on it.
