Thank you so very much for the update on you and your family. Also thanks for the details of your dad’s accident and what happened to the business. Your dad continues to influence the board and the people on it. A toast is made to him in every virtual party. We continue to be concerned and wonder about you, your brother and your mom and I’m glad that things are improving. Sorry about the boyfriend though…that’s tough. Happy New Year, Amy to you and your family. We still miss Wally and all the laughs he brought to us. I still keep his emails and when I feel somewhat lost I read them and it brings me back to life. Take care of yourself. I’m glad to hear that your mom is doing so well, Wally would never have wanted any of his family to dwell on sadness. ---

I was just talking about Wally last night and I wondered how you and the family were doing Amy. Even now Wally is still missed deeply by all of us who knew him. He was a wonderful man. Thanks for taking the time to let us know what’s happened and been happening. (With apologies to the administration . . . .) Amy, thank you for coming back to share with us how you and your family have been. Just Christmas night my thoughts and prayers were with you, knowing what a difficult time it must have been. We loved your dad very much. I still haven’t deleted some of the emails that we exchanged, for they are so very “Wally” ish, filled with life and love and laughter. What a legacy he left for you and yours! May your memories of his love help you to remember him in the future with joy, and when you need help in bearing the pain know that you have friends here (as evidenced by the responses to this thread!) and at Fathom. **Amy** , thank you so much for coming here and thinking of us. You know that you will forever be part of our SD family, just as your father will be. I was thinking of your family over the Christmas holidays and wishing you well. I am very glad to hear how you are getting along. I just want you to know that when your father died, it had a tremendous impact on me and since that day, I have lived my life to the fullest each and every minute. I cried for days for your loss and ours but I know that somewhere your Dad is doling out a well-deserved “putz” every now and then. Please come back and visit us whenever you can. I’ve waited long enough. I never spoke to your Dad. I wasnt a member while he was. Ill tell you this though… I have never known in all my travels a man who has made so many close friends.Frankly I’m jealous. Jealous of the people who knew him. You should be so very proud of your father ---

Hardly a day passes that I don’t think about your dad, Amy. I’ve got one of the :wally: buttons that Baglady created, sitting right here next to my computer. While the details were almost as hard for me to read as they were for you to post, thank you for posting them. They have brought some closure to many of us, I’m sure. It is good to hear that you are recovering from the loss and that your life is begining to also resume. Know that you had a special gift in your father, his humor and good nature could touch others even afar, and even though he was taken too soon, it is to be cherished. ---

I’m a relative newcomer, but the personality that was your father Wally resounds strongly through the board, even today. It was his presence that inspired me to read through the archives and tributes to him. And in my own memory, I can recall at least 2 threads since my arrival that were from other newcomers inquiring about him. Your father’s presence and influence has not left the boards–or this community of people who call themselves the ‘Straight Dopers’. He has become an eternal part of it. Cherished by those who knew him, and fondly viewed, even by those who never had the priviledge to speak to him. If you came around and took part in the boards more often, I know it would be obvious to you. May the Master bless all of you.
