I got an email from my sister this morning, which she forwarded from a friend of hers. There’s a dog in our area (Midwest) in need of a good home, and I’ve been asked to help in the search (my landlord doesn’t allow pets, or I’d consider it myself). I thought I’d throw it out here in case anyone is interested (Mods, hope this is okay). Of course, this is against my contract but I am trying again to find this dog a home and have begged her not to take Dakota to an animal shelter. I will be happy to help anyway I can. I just don’t want to see this good dog be taken to an animal shelter and put down and although I am begging her not to do this, I can’t guarantee she won’t. I don’t know. As I said, I don’t know any of the people involved other than my sister. The email came from someone she knows from dog obedience classes (she’s got two dogs herself). I’ll ask, though. ---

Makes sense. I work for an animal shelter, and the email raises some of my hackles, but obviously it ain’t the dog’s fault; I hope it finds a great home! Daniel ---

There are online dog adoption places where you can list animals… have you tried any of those? ---

I don’t know any off hand, I just know I’ve encountered them. Maybe google for pet adoption and throw in words like gallery or photo? ---

Hi there, [http://www.siberianrescue.com/](http://www.siberianrescue.com/) Here is a place to start. Please consider rescue for your dog. They foster dogs in people’s homes and carefully scrutinize potential adoptive families. They cannot take a known biter, but this is common practice in all rescue groups. Also, if you have a contract that states you cannot place the dog in a animal shelter, my guess you got the dog from a reputable breeder. This is a common practice amongst people who love breed dogs. Many will gladly rehome a dog they have brought into the world…it’s part of what they believe their responsibility is to their dogs. Please contact the breeder and let her/him know of your situation. Many breeders are also active in their breed’s rescue organizations; this person may have rescue contacts of her/his own. Best of luck. ---

My guess is close to **weirddave’s:** the current owner wants money and Lesley isn’t currently in a position to buy Dakota back. That’s a guess, though. I’ll let you know what I find out. On the other hand, if the owner is willing to dump Dakota on a shelter, money may not be the hurdle. Perhaps Lesley just doesn’t have room for another dog right now. ---

If I can place her in a home I would prefer to do this. My kennel is full at the moment. If I take her back she will have to go to Artic Sun Siberian’s to live and this will cost me monthly to board her. So this is why I am trying very hard to get her a home.
