Wanna talk "Celebrity Poker Showdown"? Yeah, me neither

Scott Stapp played so badly i felt for sure he was trying to hustle the other players. I mean, at least everyone else understood the basics of the game, if not the finer pounts of betting and strategy.

OMG, I wanted to beat him with a stick. He was even more annoying than Sarah Silverman from the last ep and I didn’t think that was humanly possible.

That’s it, Otto. You don’t insult my girl like that and get away with it. 3 o’clock, on the basketball court behind the gym. And bring your friends.

And that guy from Creed would never be all whacked out on drugs. He would never do that.never do that.

“Too Stoned to Rock”? Man, great nickname AND a great band name.

That and that doofus from “Mr. Show” was the luckiest player I’ve ever seen gambling with play money.

Ha! Joke’s on you, I don’t have any friends!

Rather amusing, the OP is not alone in his ambiguous feelings. From a Nicole Sullivan fansite:

(has a .wmv of the last hand which seems to not work, bottom of this page instead.)

Don’t nobody be insulting David Cross. “Shuffle the fuck up!” was a great line.

Though not as good as Scott Stapp and the classic “What’s ‘call’ mean?” And that was halfway through the game!

Scott appeared to think that the community cards only belonged to him. He’s sputtering “Why did I lose? I’ve got 4’s and a queen”, but Mimi had a pair of tens in the hole PLUS the pair of 4s that were shared. I was so happy when he went out so I could stop yelling at the TV.

“Shuffle the fuck up” is hilarious and I’ll be sure to steal that line next time I play card.

Between Carrie Fisher(dumb) and Scott Stapp(dumberer), I would have gone postal if I had been part of the game. David and Mimi handled the situation well. This show makes me want to start up a weekly poker game. Too bad I’m broke and lazy.

I watched it for the first time this week and I must say I’m strangely drawn to this show. Maybe it’s because I love David Cross or maybe it’s because I love playing cards, but I thought it was kind of cool. I don’t know if I could watch it more than a couple of times. My mother’s side of the family are all big card players. Not just poker, but all kinds of card games. Now whenever we visit with my folks, someone walks away a few bucks richer because we always play for money. (Visiting your parents is a lot better if you can make money at it) We’ve even gotten my very Christian mother-in-law gambling and trash-talking like one of us!

Watching the episode, all I could do was picture my mom in the game. She’s a total shark. She appears to be an unassuming, somewhat flaky 70-year-old, but she is ruthless. I think she would have loved to play with David Cross, Carrie Fisher, and Mimi Rogers. They seem like they’d love to trash-talk, which is half the fun of cards. At one point Carrie Fisher flipped David Cross off and Mimi Rogers called Fisher a whore. I dunno, it made me laugh. That dude from Creed was a total whiner. He kept demanding to know why he didn’t win every hand he played. How about looking at other people’s cards for a second, dink! I was hoping when Mimi Rogers won all his money she would say something like “Yeah, my arms are wide open now, loser!”

I’ll probably watch the big finale, mainly for David Cross.

Now if Kyan were playing . . .

I don’t think Carrie Fisher was dumb per se, just a complete amateur. She was obviously out of her element, but she handled what she knew with relative grace, unlike at least one of her fellow players…

I gotta admit, after seeing them all it’s clear that Ben Affleck was the most accomplished player. I loved it when he got up with his smokes and appeared to be headed directly to some other tables in the casino.

And the most priceless moment by far was Schimmer’s silly smirk getting smacked down when his trip aces didn’t win, as KidCharlemagne pointed out. Classic, classic, classic.

I prefer the WPT personally, although I’d rather watch Emily Procter than be hypnotized by X22’s freaky nose.

To be honest, Mimi Rogers seemed to have either done her homework or played alot of tournament poker.

Just to be silly, however, where were the following:

Dick Van Patten (His son does commentary for WPT, but Dick’s a pretty good player himself)

Gabe Kaplan (He did commentary for the 2002 WSOP and is an avid tournament poker player).

There are others I’ve seen at tournaments, but they seem to slip my mind at the moment.
