I don’t believe I’ve ever heard or read any Christians saying that tolerance for their culture means that anti-gay laws stay on the books. Some of them certainly believe anti-gay laws should remain on the books, but I’ve never heard anyone argue that tolerance of Christianity requires it. ---

It’s amazing that expressing the belief “The practice of Islam does not, by necessity, lead to evil behavior” implies “No one can EVER criticize ANY OTHER CULTURE for ANYTHING EVER you EVIL HOMOPHOBIC, FUNDAMENTALIST, INTOLERANT BASTARDS.” Even more amazing is how there isn’t a tenth as much political correctness around here as complaints about political correctness. I guess I could bring up what a boon to my family my Senegalese muslim brother in law has been, but I’m so terribly afraid that (in doing so) I might excuse the behavior of probably non-muslim rapist mothers in South Africa … ---

I am one of the muslim friendly WASPs you will find on the board. I dated a pretty nice guy from Morocco for a while at university, and hung out with a lot of other muslims. I do not consider the average Ali in the street evil, as with christianity, it is a few really OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA fundie jackasses that fuck it up for the normals. ---
