While waiting for Star Wars to start, I saw the newest trailer for Speilberg’s War of the Worlds.

It has already been stated that whoever we’re at war with will not be Martians or even aliens. They supposedly have been here for some time.

My guess? Some sort of ocean-living creature bent on revenge against humankind for crapping in their home for thousands of years.

Just a seriously huge WAG.

I personally think it’s the Tree Crushing Monsters from Lost. 😃

“revenge against humankind for crapping in their home for thousands of years.”

Wait. Do hummingbirds crap? They fly so fast. Might be some kind of supersocic dump?
Never had the experience that I know of…

But in that case the title would be the decidedly less interesting War of the World. 🙂

The trailer I first saw begins with the HGW prologue about us being watched by “intelligences cool and calculating across the reaches of space”, so there will be something alien about them.
Seeing the previews with the lightnight strikes, the EMP effect knocking out the power grid, & the underground upheavals- I am guessing that something alien seeded “the invaders” and the lightning strikes somehow activated them to emerge from underground.

On the bright side, water wouldn’t kill them.

I vote we throw Tom Cruise to the aliens and perhaps they’ll leave the rest of us alone.

It’s a win-win solution.

For me, the rock opera with Richard Burton as the narrator was the definitive translation of the story into another medium. If they can get even half as good as that, then they’re solid.

Nah, we gotta make 'em take Paris Hilton, the Baldwin brothers, and Celine Dion as well, or it just ain’t worth it, IMHO.

“Don’t look in their eyes!”

Mirror helmets will back them off temporarily. Hey that’s kinda like tinfoi…

They’d probably consider Paris Hilton to be an Insult.

As for the Baldwins…

Billy Baldwin: Hey Alec, you know what sucks about being a Baldwin?
Alec Baldwin: No, what?
Billy Baldwin: Nothing!

I predict that they will modernize how the aliens are defeated - instead of being done in by biological diseases, they will be taken down by a computer virus, delivered from a Mac into their mothership. 😃😃😃

Space doesn’t have to be _outer_ space. A rodent’s burrow’s got space in it too, you know:

You can buy the soundtrack to it (or at least you could), so it’s legit.

Just to clarify, it was not a soundtrack but a stand alone album.
