War Updates

So… do I have time to go get a 6-pack or what?

A (retired) Colonel on FoxNews earlier this evening said that there was a firefight near Basra pitting SAS commandos against Iraqi soldiers, and he guessed that about ten Iraqi soldiers were killed. He didn’t say where he heard this.

If what Dutch TV is saying is correct, and authorization was granted around 8:15EST, then it would probably take 15 minutes-1 hour before the bombs started striking, pending on variables. That’s my guesstimation, at least.

Seems like it. I think it’s going to be a few hours until any bombing.

I was so damned naive that I thought this thing could be averted, somehow. Yet again, Dave is an idiot. I was seriously conflicted about the whole thing when we were just talking about it.

Now we’re doing it, and the bombing has probably already started.

Oh, sh*t.

Haven’t heard anything about bombings. If they’ve occured, they’ve been hidden.

:o

Frankly, I haven’t either, and I’m watching the TV with my right eye and posting with my left.

I guess I should shut up and wait for actual developments.

Sorry.

I think CNN said it could be up to a week before anything ‘exciting.’

They are reporting air raid sirens in Baghdad right now. Hmmm… this could be it. :frowning:

Can hear the anti aircraft fire on CNN

It has begun.

…or maybe not.

Ok, Ari Fleischer said it, it’s begun.

Whitehouse says it has begun the President will address us in a half hour.

Pres. Bush will address the nation at 10:15 Eastern.

Sun’s coming up in Baghdad. Still no confirmed airstrikes.

The reports I read said the Basra action involved SBS troops.

Explosions in Baghdad.

Ari Fleischer: “The opening stages of the disarmament of the Iraqi regime have begun.”

Is it just me, or is that thing on top of that building in Baghdad (the one that’s on every single channel right now) EXTREMELY phallic?

Daylight airstrikes? That’s what we did in WWII. But it is a threatening environment for aircrews, while antiaircraft defenses are intact.

Quiet right now at 6:00 AM in Baghdad.

The Whitehouse has confirmed that the attack has begun.

Sure won’t be hard to answer the question, “Where were you when the war begun?”
