Watched the first episode of the new season on Hulu this morning and I have to say that they kept the magic through the break.

Of course, they resolved Arty’s death pretty simply, and cheated by having Mrs. Fredericks’ driver die in his stead – but every show quickly undoes everything gasp-worthy from the cliffhanger they left at the end of the previous season, so that wasn’t too surprising. I **was** surprised that MacPherson bit it though. Long live the gross, English, titty vampire. \o/

I’m a fan of Jaime Murray from her work on \*Hustle \*and _Dexter_, so I was happy to see her here.
Claudia is typically the type of character that I would find extremely annoying, but I actually kind of like her and I’m glad she’s a regular part of the cast. The chemistry between all the main characters is really good in this show.
I wish they had drawn out Artie’s fate a little, made it more suspenseful. And it felt like a little bit of a cheat that Loreena (?) was under mind-control, especially after all the thimble deceits. Lots of artifact use in this ep.
Overall, though, it’s really nice to have this show back–looking forward to the rest of the season!

I can’t believe they killed off MacPherson so quickly.
I guess they really want to move on with H.G Wells.
Good episode and a very funny and cool show. Looking forward to it.

(This thread needs an open spoiler warning…just saying, I already saw the episode)
I agree with this though. I liked that they had a Moriarty-like character and hoped they would be squaring off endlessly over numerous seasons. I was surprised they did away with him and surprised he went down so easily (as in not even preparing a little bit for the betrayal).
That said the new nemesis is nicer on the eyes and so far she seems a good actress and an interesting addition. Might have been better if she and MacPherson worked as a team but whatever.
Overall I enjoyed the episode. Very glad it is back. TV has been horribly boring lately. A fun show like this is needed.

Thinking about it, I have to imagine that either the actor decided to quit the show or the producers had an issue with him. That they replaced him with another British, bronzed, ex-agent seems like some sort of proof that they had plans for him extending into the series – possibly even scripts ready – and had to swap him out at the last moment. Keeping her as near to the same stats as him lets them fudge their scripts a bit to work with her, instead of having to come up with something new.
I bet we’ll discover that she and Artie have a historic rivalry as well.

I agree. Othewise, they would have shown him unbronzing someone in the finale last year, which would have been part of the cliffhanger.
Am I the only one that only sees Robin from Cheers when I see that actor?

My first thought on seeing H.G. Wells was…holy shit, she’s a pyro! (from Dexter)
I was really kind of intrigued by her reference to Tesla; SyFy also has the show Sanctuary, and Nikolai Tesla was kind of an important character there; could there be a crossover? I really hope so; she mentioned meeting with Tesla but didn’t say anything about his…unusual qualities (in the Sanctuary universe) but I have to say it would geek me out to have a crossover of the two series.

Well, she doesn’t trust men and when she was talking about working on something she’s been thinking about for a long time they played _Sour Times_ by Portishead with the memorable line “Nobody loves me, it’s true, not like you do,” so maybe it wasn’t a rivarly per say, but a romance gone bad…
The problem is we have no idea when she was bronzed, or we could assume it was when she “died” in the 40s, which would make Artie too young to have ever met her.

…my brother said to me, "oh, thats odd. Roger Ree’s is on tour with “Waiting for Godot! (Currently in NZ, but going around the world ) I wonder he managed to film both this series and tour the world at the same time?” Minutes later, he was dead. 😃

They’re already doing a crossover with “Eureka” with Claudia appearing there and Fargo on Warehouse.

Just watched episode 4 (Age Before Beauty). Lots of tender moments with all the characters. The artifact chase was a bit wonky and particularly rushed at the end, but given that they did so for the sake of more time with the characters, that’s fine by me. Maybe they’ll do an episode of everyone doing chores at the Warehouse with no artifact chase at some point.
I loved the fat jokes. 😃

I agree–a very good character episode with great moments between Pete & Myka, Myka & Artie, and Claudia & Artie. Also, Claudia’s date with Todd was awkwardly funny, and builds on her character.
I like when they start episodes with a glimpse of the conclusion of another artifact mission. (In this case, retrieving Excalibur.)
Myka looked smokin’ hot all glammed up! (way, waaayy hotter than the bitchy star model)

I love that \*Eureka \*and _Warehouse 13_ share the same universe. I do wonder, though, if anyone from the Warehouse will see Jo and Zane in Eureka and comment on how much they look like two people they ran into last year.

I noticed that she had tattoos on her ankles. Looked like text, but it was unclear what it said.
Myka’s character doesn’t seem like the tattoo type, but then again these days _everyone_ is the tattoo type in real life, so perhaps that isn’t a meaningful distinction. I’m not sure whether I should be thinking that it’s a glimpse at the character’s secret past, that the makeup crew didn’t feel it was worth hiding on the actresses’ body, or what.

The writing this year is terrific. We get to know so much more about the characters, and it’s not just artifact-of-the-week. The cast interactions look like they all really enjoy working together, as well.
This week’s prize winning lines went to Claudia, trying to get Artie to shut up and get to the point. Second goes to the “fat” jokes.

An interestingly small bit of Science Fiction in the new episode (13.1). “You can’t run the Warehouse on half a brain. Look at you, I just won you at a children’s board game!” Nice to see that someone thought through the ramifications of what the artifact did and presented it in a way that was fully illustrative of the issue (regardless that the artifact itself is magic.)
René Auberjonois did a good job at playing entirely different personalities, it should be noted as well.
