Also let me add that when I was a kid I really really really wanted that remote control Pterodactyl.
Wood floats right?
Build a bridge out of 'er!
I always liked that Allie Sheedy pronounced trajectory as TRAJECT-tory. If scripted - brilliant, if not, a great mistake left in.
Nice software.
I picked up the kindle ebook version, when I seen this post.
Some of the stuff in the book so far, makes me think we could populate a Kevin Mitnick thread real easily, lol.
Declan
It was kind of subtle, but my favorite moment comes right after this when Broderick is trying to walk past Sheedy to turn off his computer and she traps him between her legs and just gives the cutest, flirtiest little laugh & smile! Yum!
Teenaged me thought that was NOT so subtle.
Adult me agrees.
Yeah? Well we put all that power in the hands of Dabney Coleman, which didn’t turn out so great either.
You and me, both. At home, we had just recently gotten HBO and I discovered, much to my delight, that some PG movies would have a brief flash of nudity. When Ally started to strip out of her clothes for the swim, my heart stopped in anticipation. I have never hated a movie character as much as I hated David at that moment!
Continuing in this vein, the scene after Broderick sees what he did on the evening news and Sheedy calls him to ask if it was them, the beginning of the shot of her suggests she’s in her underwear (bra) but after she moves you see it’s just a spaghetti string top.
Forget Demi Moore, Sheedy was always my favorite Brat-Packer!
This thread inspired me to re-watch this movie again. It really does hold up.
I don’t know why this struck me as so funny, but right at the beginning when Michael Madsen and his co-hort were going into the silo, there is a sign hanging on the wall to the right of the door saying like “Anyone urinating on this wall will be immediately discharged”
A great film. The only nonwinning move is not to watch. I had no idea this was on Netflix Instant–that’s definitely going on my queue!
… Played by the late, wonderful John Spencer, aka Leo from The West Wing and Tommy from L.A. Law. I love that he was the one who had the reservations about turning the key, a refusal that IIRC pretty much triggered the changeover to the WOPR. Even in his five-minute scene, he convincingly plays a man tormented by an attempt to do the right thing.
Also, to heck with you guys perving on Ally Sheedy: Matthew Broderick was freakin’ adorable. Had a major crush on him starting with this film!
Reading this I thought the last word was going to be Ally Sheedy.
I looked recently and Netflix says instant watch expires on May 1, so you guys wanting to watch it may want to get on that.
