Warning- grisly gun question

A .22 cal bullet in one eye would be almost centainly fatal. One in each eye would result in instant death.

Yeah, it’s not like I didn’t already see how unlikely the scenario was before I posted. If you hear about a person getting shot in the eyes and surviving- such as the police officer in this case (who sounds similar to the guy in “Blind Justice:wink: ) and this Civil War soldier, they prob. got shot by shotgun pellets, or at an angle that blew their face off, or at an angle that went in but missed the brain- these are more survivable than a direct hit, now I know. But in any case, you are right to roll your smily eyes at my OP. But, if you take the time to read the first 40 posts, you might find that their are, as I just said, ways to survive. But you’re right, even with all the discussion we’ve done, it would still never happen like it will in my movie, and I don’t think my audience will hold it against me.

I saw a special on that guy. He was actually in his late teens, and got shot in the head with a .357 magnum, destroying most of the right half of his cranium and the right lobe of his brain. (I’d assume whatever was left of the right lobe—which couldn’t have been a whole lot—was just removed.) Aside from paralysis on the left half of his body, his mind seemed pretty unaffected. AHA! Here we go—Ripley’s website mentions the episode—WARNING includes a photo, which is the whole point of linking to it, actually—and the name of the patient, Ahad Israfil.

Plus, there are a number of people who’ve had half of their brains removed surgically to treat epilepsy, AND people have had frontal lobectomies—where large sections of the front of the brain are removed—and survived, albeit, as I remember, with mental imparment. To say nothing of frontal lobotomies, where the frontal lobe(s) are merely damaged.

Heck, I’ve even seen X-Rays of a guy who was shot in the side of the head, the bullet passing through his brain and lodging inside the other side of his braincase, and who not only didn’t seem to have suffered any ill effects, but he didn’t even realize he’d been shot until the next morning.

So yeah, anyway, it’d still most likely kill you, but it wouldn’t be completely impossible for someone to survive it.
