Another bad movie warning: I’ve heard that their thinking of making a movie based on Chuck Barris’ (The Gong Show) “autobiography”!!! ---

Kangaroo Jack I have to agree looks like the worst friggin movie idea ever made. (and its produced by jerry bruckheimer - what was he thinking) Plot: A kangaroo steals drug money from two morons in Australia. Morons chase kangaroo. Kangaroo wears some sort of compton or chicago wind breaker, talks, and basically outwits them. Wow… The worst movie I actually SAW was Kurt Russel in “Soldier”…gawd awefull terrible flick. He looked good and buff…but movie was tripe. D. ---

On second thought…it could be like a Pauly Shore movie… you know…it costs 4 million to make and makes 9 at the box office… Still a 100% return on investment… can’t laugh at that. D. ---

The molten core of the Earth does in fact spin, which generates the geomagnetic field. (I’m sure some geologist or physicist on the SDMB will correct my oversimplification.) It’s possible that the magnetic field is about to reverse itself (which it’s apparently done many times in the past). This sounds like one of those moronic movies that take an interesting scientific premise and then waste it with cliches and mindless action. (See the aforementioned _Armageddon_, and I would add _The Matrix_.) I watch these movies, and I think, “Why didn’t they just have a real science fiction writer do this script?” ---

He has lived a pretty interesting life and it has some actors I like in it, like Sam Rockwell and Julia Roberts. I’ll be going to see that one though I wouldn’t go see any of these other movies mentioned unless someone paid me a hundred dollars per minute of movie. ---

Already filmed; _Confessions of a Dangerous Mind_ is slated for a January 17 release in the US. George Clooney’s directorial debut. Here’s what I find funny: there’s going to be a limited US release on December 31. Why? The only reason I can think of is to make it eligible for next year’s Oscar consideration. Think about that. ---

According to the trailer on [www.rottentomatoes.com](http://www.rottentomatoes.com), _The Core_ was supposed to have been released this fall. According to [IMDB,](http://us.imdb.com/ReleaseDates?0298814) it will be released next March. Spring and fall are not the times one normally releases an FX-filled blockbuster. Paramount’s admitting the film is crap, but they spent so much on it, they HAVE to release it to cut their losses. ---

I started a thread a while ago about how the trailer made my brain explode. I saw the new trailer when i saw Nemisis. In San Francisco, so we all booed when the scenes of the Golden Gate getting destroyed showed up. But the DJ Squalls said he needed Star Trek tapes, so we all cheered. Then went right back to booing and mocking. ---

Think about that. \*\* Ok…(think think think) From what I hear, Sam Rockwell, one of our best young actors, is quite good in it. If he’s good enough for Oscar consideration, why deprive him of a crack at it? I don’t know why some of you are so sure that Confessions of a Dangerous Mind will be a stinker. It sounds to me like it could be a lot of very goofy fun. Clooney was very passionate about the project, and anyone who’s seen both The Green Mile and Galaxy Quest knows how amazing Sam Rockwell is. I’m there, opening day! ---
