As many of you know, the Straight Dope Message Board today revoked the posting privileges of the (now former) member known as Jack Dean Tyler. A few minutes ago, the message board staff received an email from an address associated with that former member which we believe contained a virus of some sort. We’re still trying to sort things out to figure out exactly what is going on, but for now, please exercise caution in opening emails from sources not familiar to you. As we are able to share more, we will update you. Please bump this thread from time to time to keep it near the top of the page until we can get the “announcement” function working for us. I see that Administrator Lynn has created an announcement in all the forums for this message. Probably means that this thread doesn’t need to be bumped anymore, hmm? As for JDT, I’m not gonna touch that subject with a ten foot pole. Only lurked and laughed at all of the threads he was invovled in. As I once said in another thread, I think that the SDMB staff ought to print out the circumcision threads and print them in book form. Cecil would make a fortune, not that he hasn’t already. I’m not going to bother doing this same post in the threads that manhattan has started in the other areas…feels too much like spamming. ---

Did you hear back from JDT if he did it on purpose or if it infected his Outlook address book, thus causing it to email it to the mods automatically?
