Greg Abel has been his designated successor since May 2021. So the name isn’t surprising. The retirement? Maybe surprising, but certainly not shocking. ---

I mean, he’s 94. If he hasn’t retired already, why now? I guess maybe he’s self-aware enough to know he’s declining. But i gotta say, when my husband interrupted my online game to say something about Warren Buffett, i assumed the guy had died. ---

Buffett Partnership bought the struggling textile firm Berkshire Hathaway in 1965. So this would be his 60th year heading the firm. 20% annual gains since 1965, relative to 10% for the S&P 500. Berkshire HQ, located in Omaha Nebraska, has 27 employees. The 1.16 trillion dollar firm has a $348 billion cash hoard, which I expect to be deployed within the next year. ---
