# Was Hitler a Christian?

At the time that Hitler came to power, Germany was overwhelmingly Catholic in the South and heavily _Evangelische_ in the North. While the _faux_ neo-pagan civil culture promoted by the Nazis was certainly not Christian, the people of the nation being led were.

In a spontaneous moment when some stage lights collapsed during a _Sixty Minutes_ interview (the excerpt was played during the recent anniversary special), Clinton can be heard saying “Jesus, Mary and Joseph!” in a comical Olive Oyl voice.
