When I was in college, I received a letter (that’s what we called Facebook in the olden days, darlings) from the boy who lived across the street for a year and a half when I was 6-ish. The letter said that he was in love with me. I thought about replying, decide that was a bad idea, and threw the letter away. That’s how we used to “defriend.” It’s similar. I feel obliged to point out that I am, in fact, writing this on a treadmill. ---
