I’ll bet that a few years ago they could have done a Hogan’s Hero’s type of show about peasants living under Taliban Rule. There’s a microphone in the opium pipe.

That’s one way to put it. Cronauer tried to parlay his AFRS experience into a series but no network was interested. He reworked the series pitch into a movie, which was rewritten by Mitch Markowitz for Robin Williams and released as an almost completely different movie eight years later.

Sutherland is a terrific actor, but for the movie, it was just a “part” for him - as was “Kelly’s Heroes” where I first “met” Donald.
Alda “owned” it, IMHO. He took it, examined it, and gave his character the best he could.
They have both “moved on”, but there will always be a place in my heart for **all** the characters - movie or television!
Especially “Sidney Freedman”: “Ladies and Gentlemen, take my advice! Pull down your pants, and…”

I know, buddy. And if I ever to get high speed internet back, I’ll roll a character on your server and group with you sometime. I can make a Death Knight on any server and run you though the lower level dungeons, or something else and try to power-level up to your level. Or maybe transfer an existing character over.
