# Was the late Douglas Adams the evil twin of Cecil Adams, or the other way around? or

Was the late campy Brit author Douglas Adams(Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy x5) possibly related to the mystical knowledge guru(or "straight dope"pimp-take your pick)Cecil Adams? Or is eccentricity just inherent in any possesor of the surname Adams?

This is the second reference I’ve seen lately (both on this board, I think) to “the late” Douglas Adams. When and how did he die? And how did I miss hearing about it? (Besides the fact that I live in a cave, of course.)

**Alan** He died of a heart attack around may 15 I think it was. There are many tributes at [douglasadamas.com](http://douglasadamas.com) I recall seeing a tribute to him in the Get Fuzzy comic strip a couple or three weeks ago.  
I don’t think he was related to Cecil just because I’ve never heard of such a relationship existing but I could be wrong.

**Alan** – Douglas Adams died on May 11. There is a wonderful [feature about him](http://avclub.theonion.com/avclub3303/avfeature3303.html) in the Onion’s a.v. club. Well worth reading.

As for the OP… I’m going to go out on a limb and say no.
