Was the Straight Dope TV show any good?

I think this is a good assessment. I watched the show, found the books, and eventually the online content. If someone had already read the columns or books, the show was not meant for them.

Also to the show’s credit, this was before Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters. It was before the explosion of A&E/History/TLC/Discovery type of edu-tainment. These days it would be one of many, then it was kind of on its own.

I seem to remember catching it on TV at like four in the morning. I had read the books, so it was cool to see it had its own show. I remember the silly graphics, and the episode I saw was about how they put the lettering on M&Ms.

Same here. My then-boyfriend and I channel-surfed onto it and stayed. I remember one episode was about how those clusters of tiny flying insects you see in forests are actually the bugs mating.

Same here. I really enjoyed myself…unfortunately, I had paid money to see him. He sucked.

Not really. I just saw something that I could practice on.

Well the content was entertaining, but the opening graphics looked like something from a web video series put out by some guy in his basement.
