Was there strong opposition to the UK gun bans? Could the same happen in the US?

NB: Shotguns are not destructive devices, even with a .729 caliber bore.

The USAS 12 and “Street Sweeper” are both now considered DDs. Thanks again '94 AW Ban.

Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about DD’s

Yeah, my dad has a Striker 12 gauge. It is a “destructive device” and he has a packet of gummint paperwork to prove he legally owns it. I can’t remember the last time anybody shot it; had to have been in the late 90’s. Its classification as a DD is a fine example of government idiocy at work. Except under certain very specialized circumstances, it has absoluely nothing to recommend it over a conventional pump or self-loading shotgun. It’s heavy, has shit ergonomics, takes forever to load, and you have to make sure the drum is wound. If I needed to defend myself with a shotgun, I’d rather have a Remington 870.

I had to sell mine. My nanny state does not allow civilian owned DD’s or class 3’s.
