One of my favs. Not exactly Tyson’s corner but close enough and a nice drive through the land of the rich.
Never been there, but have been to DC many times. If you want some tour info let me know.
IF you plan on going to the TOP of the Washington Monument, pre-order a ticket from the National Park website, otherwise, 1st come 1st serve in line and they usually go fast.
The CAPITOL building is a must see to tour inside, especially with it’s new Underground visitor center. Tickets are needed for that also, but you can only get them in the line, unless things have changed. Get there early.

[ul][li]Clyde’s of Tysons Corner (on the upscale/pricey side, but nothing like Ruth’s Chris)[/ul][/li][/QUOTE]
This is where I would take a visitor in that area with the description given in the OP. I’ve never had a bad meal at Clyde’s, the service is always top notch, and the prices (while not cheap) are very reasonable for a local chain.
If you plan on going into the Washington Monument at all, be prepared for some disappointment.
The monument is currently closed, because of last year’s earthquake.
Thanks, I did not know that.
The link shows a tourist running down some stairs. Although the climbing stairs to the top have been closed many years, you can only take the elevator up, near the top is I think 1 flight or so where the little gift shop is, it goes to the elevator.
At one time intitial construction was halted for 20 + years due to funding.
