The population density of the entire state is 2.7 times higher than my town, so the state gets 13,400 gallons per day for each resident. If we count cows, it’s somewhat less for each consumer (New Hampshire cows don’t shower), but it’s still a lot of water. Following the hurricane floods of 1938, Massachusetts paid New Hampshire money to build and maintain dams to keep our water from flooding them; they always have more than enough water of their own down there.
