Watching an old movie / TV show: "Hey, there's that actor from the other, more recent thing!"

In the Barbra Streisand movie, Nuts, Nielsen plays a john who gets rough with Babs’s call girl character and she kills him and goes to trial to prove she’s not you-know-what. Leslie in black bikini undies took courage to play.

Well, later in the movie after being rescued and returned to the airfield after bailing out being after being shot down, he snarls at Robert Shaw’s “did you get one?” query “All I got was a bellyful of English Channel

He should’ve stayed put back in the 1870s and been happy with a bellyful of rough whiskey.

Peter Falk was a gangster in Robin and the Seven Hoods alongside Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. He was also “Max,” sidekick of Jack Lemmon’s evil “Professor Fate” in The Great Race.

I saw The Great Race last weekend.

Morgan Freeman in Brubaker as a crazed prisoner who rants and raves while threatening to kill another. You know, they talk about William Hurt and his Oscar nomination for less than 10 minutes of screen time in A History of Violence, and there’s Morgan Freeman scaring the shit out of everyone during that brief scene!

The show “Monk” isn’t ‘old old’, but I didn’t really watch it when it was first on air and I’ve been watching reruns on the retro on-air H&I channel. It’s been fun seeing earlier appearances of a lot of other well known actors from other stuff. From the show The Office alone, Angela Kinsey (Angela) and Rainn Wilson (Dwight) both turned out to be the killers in separate episodes, and of course Jan from The Office played Monk’s dead wife in flashbacks. (Spoilered for anyone else who may be new to Monk reruns like me)

Well, the first season is 20 years old now. And rewatching it, it is starting to feel kind of dated, in particular when it comes to technology used in the crimes. In one episode Sharona looked in the victim’s car and remarks “Hey, it’s one of those global positioning systems.” Stottlemeyer: “Yeah, but it wasn’t working. There’s no CD in it.” The case hinged on the killer replacing the disk in the victim’s GPS with one containing fake map data, to lead him to where he was killed. In another episode Monk and Sharona find the killer’s digital camera, and say something like “It’s one of those digital cameras, but I’ve never seen one this small before” as they hold up what to me seems like a perfectly normal sized camera. [/hijack]

That rerun just reran today. And the other ep you mentioned they played a few days ago. You must be watching the H&I channel too!

No, just streaming it on Prime Video.

Law and Order had Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), the Penguin from Gotham (Robin Lord Taylor), and Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) in early roles

Before being on Monk. Capt. Stottlemeyer was Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.

… And Tony Shalhoub was a regular in Wings, in addition to appearing on Frasier and being one of the crew in Galaxy Quest.

He has many more credits, but those are the only ones I would have seen him in. According to IMDb, his first role was as a terrorist leader (!) in The Equalizer (1986).

Morgan Freeman was “Easy Reader” on The Electric Company (a PBS show for kids who had outgrown Sesame Street).

I was watching the TV version of The Horn Blows at Midnight and spotted Shearer on the cast list as a newspaper boy Jack Benny talks to.

Interestingly, the movie version also had a future TV star in the same role: Robert Blake

That didn’t scare nobody!

And Sharona was in A League of Their Own.

Just rewatched Galaxy Quest and realized Rainn Wison was one of the Thermians.

Robert Blake was the little kid who sold Humphrey Bogart the winning lottery ticket in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

Blake was also Red Ryder’s sidekick, and he appeared in some of the Our Gang series.
