> What **Guin** said. Also, you’re justifying your first post by referencing something posted almost an hour _later_. On top of that, :smack: does not equate “stoning [someone] to death,” even after taking your hyperbole into account. And lastly, regardless of what is being watched, people who ask questions about a movie _while you’re trying to watch the movie_ are fucking annoying on general principles. Shut up, watch the screen, and figure it out on your own. It ain’t hard: he’s the guy everyone is calling “Gandalf.”

Come on! The OP is ranting because the roomate was making fun of the movie:

According to some people it is blasphemy to make fun of Lord of The Rings. I see the same responses with some of my (geeky) friends.

Then why, poopsie, did you enter this thread?

I don’t go into the Survivor threads and say “Oh my Lord, you people actually watch that drek? I can’t stand reality TV, it makes my skin itch.”

Incidentaly those people who like LOTR, also like playing Diablo II for 7 hours straight. Not what I would call healthy.

Sorry, I didn’t know that this thread was dedicated to disgruntled LOTR fans only. 😛

I will not desecrate this holly thread with my foul words anymore!

I am a huge fan of LOTR. I make no apologies for it. However, I despise Diablo 2. I even have a Pit thread to that effect somewhere.

In any case, what the fuck do you care? I’m sure you don’t do anything that could be construed as “unhealthy?”

Consider this a snide, unfounded generalization about people who post multiple times to a thread on a subject in which they claim to have no interest.

So, do you spend most of your time trying to find folks who like things you don’t like? That sounds fairly . . .

Never mind.

I don’t think you’ve quite gotten it. If you are watching a show you think is pretty awesome, but your friend thinks it’s tripe, it would annoy you if you were paying attention (or at least trying) and he were constantly making fun of it, so much so that you had trouble hearing the dialogue.

I’m guessing that you’re a reality TV fan. Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t, but for the sake of this example, you are. And you particularly liked “American Idol.” Now, you’re trying to watch the show, and you’re really interested in hearing who sings in tune, who’s an attention whore, what Simon has to say, etc. Your friend thinks the show is crap. He constantly makes fun of the contestants as they sing, he asks you about the voting/elimination procedures over and over, and generally makes the show unwatchable. You don’t care if he likes “American Idol” or not, but for God’s sake why is he watching it if he doesn’t like it? You do like it, and he’s making the viewing experience worse for you.

Do you understand now? You don’t have to like Lord of the Rings. You don’t have to like American Idol. You don’t have to like anything. Just don’t be an assface and ruin it for the people who _do_.

Sure, if you’re not watching the movie. During the movie, it’s damn annoying.

You should have brought Powerade with you to Mordor…Mister Baggins.

All of them? But, but, but…

Oh well I guess maybe I don’t really like LOTR or something. Or perhaps you’re full of shit.

Gotta be one or the other.

And **Dainsleif** the reason your roommate and girlfriend were slagging off that movie which bore a vague resemblance to a book written by Tolkein was becaseu the movie was crap.

It’s that simple.

I’m glad you know so much about me. Perhaps you would like to come to my house sometime, and see how someone who loves a book watches the movie made of said book.

I don’t even play games on the computer. But hey, thanks for the broad brushstrokes!

This confirms my suspicion that **Guinastasia** braids her hair, puts on the elaborate dress she sewed from a downloaded pattern, and pretends to be Eowyn.
Personally, I prefer to put on my hooded cloak, pick up a staff and be Radghast, but different strokes and all that.

Hmmmm… I guess you mean me…
To make your generalizations easier, I also like the Dune series, Isaac Asimov, Heinlein and Starcraft. Also walks in the woods, candlelight dinners, and romantic music…

By the way, I don’t care in the least what you call healthy…

You like Dune, a book that glorifies terrorism? You are a poor excuse of a human being but you already know that.

One of my friends hasn’t seen _the Matrix_, but she has seen _The Adventures Of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert_. So when she sees Elrond, she doesn’t think Agent Smith, she thinks, “He ought to be wearing a dress made of flip-flops and singing Abba!”.

I ought to watch _Priscilla_ again. Fun movie.

AAAAHHH!!! What the hell, you pervert-have you been spying on me?

Sicko!

😛

You got two out of three-I have braided my hair, and sometimes I’ll quote the whole, “I am no man! YEEEAAAH!!!” thing, but I haven’t made any dresses yet. Sewing machine ain’t working.

**Dog80** , first off, I don’t even know what Diablo II is. Second, it doesn’t matter WHAT the movie is, if someone’s talking while I’m trying to watch something, that’s gonna piss me off.

Acutally, I gave up Diablo II for Dark Age of Camelot which I play for 7+ hours at a time when given the chance.

Yay for fitting the stereotype!
