Watching the Earth get hit by a giant asteroid from space

Humanity would survive a dino-killer-sized impactor, probably even without any advance warning, and give us a year or two warning, and we could save huge numbers of people. We’ve had the technology to do that for millennia. Something that big, though? Fuhgettaboutit.

We are talking about an asteroid bigger than the state of Rhode Island hitting the Earth at hypersonic speeds. Such an impact would throw up debris the size of Dinosaur Killer asteroids.

In fact, it would probably look something like this.

It’s funny to see all of the related videos, like this one that use the same video, supposedly to happen on December 21. As if we couldn’t see it coming already (I am sure we would have warning far in advance given the size).
