Okay, he’s replicating big moments but I’m not sold on the fact that the depth is going to be there. When we’re closer to release and there’s trailers covering the story I might be more convinced. ---

Who watches the Watchmen was a tagline in a videogame on the Amstrad. I think it was Gryzor (Contra)? ---

That was pretty fucking awesome. I recognize most of the shots from individual panels of the series. And I admit, I’d never before made a connection between the title and Jon Osterman’s father’s profession. It might not have been intentional on Moore’s part, but the guys who made this trailer are milking the hell out of it. ---

Both will be straight to DVD creations, released around the same time as the movie. As for the trailer…Holy Shit! On the seventh (eighth?) viewing, there’s a few things that the fanboys are going to nitpick to goddamn death. Example: When Nite Owl’s skyship bursts from the water, the sluicing runoff looks a little hokey, like the VFX were rushed. Expect the chattering webmonkeys to seize on this and similar flashes in order to brand the movie an imminent failure, even though there’s a full year before the final effects will be generated. Just wanted to get ahead of the curve, because a movie cannot be this hyped without attracting a backlash. Sure, it might suck. But incompletely rendered effects are not an argument. Anyway. Off to watch it again. ---

I showed this to my wife, who has not read Watchmen and is not familiar with it outside me occasionally mentioning that she should read it. She thought it looked cool, though confusing. She thought it looked like Batman Begins, but with some kind of Justice League vibe. Anyone else show it to people unfamiliar with the book? I’ve read it and I think the trailer looks intriguing, but I remain wary. ---

Looks pretty damned good! I watched it twice. Doesn’t look like that’s Nixon on the bank of TVs behind Ozymandias. Hmmm. Note the World Trade Center in the background as Nite Owl’s ship lifts off from the river. I don’t think that’s a 50-star American flag being snapped open over the Comedian’s grave - an extra star due to Vietnam joining the Union? What’s the v.o. say at 1:20 just before Dr. Manhattan appears in the cafeteria? And yes, the glass clockwork ship on Mars looks 'way cool. ---

I never read 300, or Hellboy, but c’mon. I didn’t need to. I grew up on X-Men, and while I enjoyed the movies, I was a bit bogged down with my mind going “that’s not right, that’s not right, that’s not right, that’s not right!” ---

I read the comic a long time ago, and don’t remember any of it. It’s very popular, but I didn’t really get it. I’m not especially excited to see the movie, and I’m definitely over the glut of superhero movies we’ve been having lately. But then again, if the reviews come in and it sets the world alight, I’ll probably check it out. ---

I probably have to turn in my geek card for this, but… I haven’t gotten around to reading _Watchmen_ yet. _hangs head_ I own _V for Vendetta_–similarities? differences? As for the trailer: not crazy about the music, but the visuals are _breathtaking_. ---
