Mine was tap water. The tap water at Banff may have been the best water I’ve ever drunk.
In my experience, everywhere in the world cares about carrying liquids into airplanes. I was recently stopped in Denmark because i hadn’t removed my bag of liquids from my suitcase. South Africa made us remove liquids in two different places in the security process. The UK made a big deal about having a machine that could check my bottle of water, but i waited 5 minutes for them to send my bag through that machine.
In some of those I was in the “going to the US” line, but in most i wasn’t, and i didn’t have to remove my shoes. (Because no place else has ever required that.)
