Some of my favorites were the “I had cybersex with the AI!” thread, in which various posters molested the Lindsaybuddy program, and “Children’s books that should never be”. I’d post links, but I’ve searched for them before to no avail. Can anyone succeed where I have failed? .:Nichol:. ---

Wow, I’ve just spent the last 3 hours reading this thread and checking out the links - very entertaining! In my short time I’ve been here, one fairly recent thread sticks in my mind as a real train wreck. Who can forget the saga of the [disabled Dodge Viper drivers](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=133820&perpage=50&highlight=viper%20disabled&pagenumber=1) I think there were a few threads around at the time based on a similar theme, but this is the only one I can locate for the moment. I remember **ChiefScott** investigating the urban myth about birds pointing their beaks skywards and drowning from torrential rain. He did this all from the middle of the ocean on an aircraft carrier, and all through e-mails and the like, reaching various ornithological experts until arriving at the conclusion which turned out to be that seabirds get blown inland by hurricanes, get drenched and often die of exhaustion. This took place across several threads and remains one of the most impressive ‘staff reports’ ever, partly due to **ChiefScott** ’s sheer tenacity. Nice to see the remaining veterans from our AOL days, haven’t we seen it all! Any other questions?
