Oh c’mon! You seem to think I’m Christian. I’m not, I’m an Atheist. I dislike all gods equaly. Having that out of the way I have another scenario for you: A man stops by a mosque. He takes his shoes off. He washes his face, hands and feet. He bends down and turns to Mecca. He thanks his god the revenge dealt upon the infidels. Is this man praying to the same god President Bush was refering? You’re telling me the birth of two major religions involved a profet at some pont in time. So? Doesn’t the same god use the same religious code of conduct? ---

The Iraqis hate the US. Regardless of the personal politics of any country involved in this, the fact is that the US did kill many, many Iraqi soldiers and civilians during the Gulf War. That sort of thing usually doesn’t sit well with the populace, regardless of whether or not they feel they or anyone else were justified in their war-time actions. And to everyone who feels rage and anger right now at what this random Iraqi mechanic said, well, I’m with you. The guy’s an asshole, and has no grasp of the laws of causality. But cheering when the US finally unloads on Iraq is, IMO, just as bad as that mechanic. ---

No, **JohnnyIsGood** , it is NOT required for religious practices to be the same in order to worship the same God. Or are you saying the the Catholics, the Lutherans, and each of the miriad sects of Baptist are each worshiping a different God from all the others? ---

Jews worship the God of Abraham. Jesus was a Jew whose message was based on the fact that he was the Son of God (of Abraham). Mohammad-- to Muslims-- was the final in a long line of prophets from God that included Abraham and Jesus. No where in the history of these three religions did any new “gods” spring up-- only new beliefs, practices and philosophies. That’s what people mean that Jews, Muslims and Christians worship the same God. These jackholes from Iraq quoted in the OP should in no way represent the Iraqi people as a whole, or for that matter, Islam. There _are_ people in Iraq who want the U.S. to help remove Saddam. I know this because I know Iraqi immigrants with family still in Iraq who have told me this. Now as to these opinons held by these jackholes from the news story about Jews/Israel: yes, many, if not most, Arabs in the world _are_ angry with Israel/Jews. But this mechanic’s belief that God is avenging some wrong-doing against Arabs is just absurd. Happy ---

And had this accident happened to an Iraqi shuttle mission, I’m sure a journo could have found just as many Americans/Australians/Europeans cheering in celebration. Arseholes come in all colours: Iraq does not have a monopoly on stupid uncaring fuckwits. Yes, of course this sort of reaction is to be expected, but I’m damn sure there are many more people in the Middle East who are today mourning with you in this tragedy. ---
