The Cold War, in the sense in which that term is most frequently used, ended around 1990. How can an American high school student, and a fairly literate one at that, not know this? On the other hand, it’s good that you understand that much of the time, grownups don’t know what they’re talking about, and are generally full of shit. Some people never achieve this realization. I think the best date for the end of the Cold War was November 11th, 1989. The day the Wall fell. It was only fourteen years ago. It feels like another age. ---
