I refuse to believe anyone in any news organization who would reach out to police, instead of phoning the cops.
New Age crap.

New Age crap.
More like iAge crap. “Reached out” can be a reporter with a thesaurus run amok or it just means that he/she emailed the police.
Privacy rules probably prohibit the school from releasing any details, which means that this is going to be one of those times that people rant about Zero Tolerance Run Amok™ without the school being able to provide context for the decisions.
Now, I’m certainly not defending the school or its decision, nor am I defending the student. But in cases like this, one side (the student) can talk about what happened and say whatever that side wants. The other side (the school) may be restricted from providing information that explains their decision.
Usually when you reach out to the police, you get tasered and cuffed.
No, that’s reacharound.
The term “political correctness” has got to be the most worn-out straw man in history. It’s so worn-out, in fact, that it’s pretty much meaningless. Still, it inevitably gets trotted out in a desperate attempt to dredge up some self-righteous recreational outrage as a last resort. People don’t even think about what it may mean when they use it. They just know that it’s “bad”–like hobgoblins and cooties.
My 13 year old son hugs me all the time. He’s that kind of kid.
We don’t know if this boy has previously been told “once more and you’re suspended” for inappropriate or uninvited touching. As someone said, the school can’t say anything because of student privacy.
My 14 year old son wants frequent hugs, even in front of his friends some times.
From his mother, sure I can see it. Would you find it likely or even appropriate if your son frequently solicited hugs from an adult female teacher?
Nothing to you rings false about the tale that a female teacher separated two boys who were fighting physically and, after being separated, one boy turned to the teacher and lovingly gave her a hug that signalled his deep emotional feelings for her, and for which he is being unjustly punished?
Without grabbing her ass?
Without ulterior motive?
riiiiight.
In my day, if a female teacher broke up a fight, the boys would say “fuck you bitch.”
Ah the 80s.
