It has been pretty warm by local standards (so I’m told).
I’m hoping to catch up with Gukamatz at some stage, although our schedules don’t seem to match.
Anyway, today we’re on the scenic rail tour to Flam.

Why does that sound so much like a line from a fiction story?
(Say Hi to Gukumatz for me if you can!)
Note to self: It is fun throwing snowballs at unsuspecting partner with back turned.
It works well on siblings and good friends too. But don’t do it in public if you are in England. I was told it would be taken the wrong way. :dubious:
Snowballs are just plain fun. Until your snowball rivals attack and wash your face with snow. At that point, all bets are off.
Be prepared. Just saying, is all.
Ah yes, the traditional “facewash.” If you are indeed in the land of ice and snow, you have to experience a facewash to have the full effect.
So, is it cold enough to experience the magic of how wonderful metal tastes outside in cold weather?
Now that’s just mean!
I had never seen a snowball in my life before this. I missed out on a lot.
Had beers with Gukumatz. It was tremendous- I have now met two Dopers IRL. (Three if you count my sister).
We’re too far apart. Canada is 7000 km long and 4000 km wide*.
*Maximum dimensions.
However, you do have plastic bank notes.
Government supported contraception.
A little further north and you could have called this thread “we come from the land of tundra.”
Well, I am now in Tromso where it has been dark since 2 PM. Does that count?
(Good weather to stay indoors and drink Heineken. That stuff they call Arctic Beer would, fair dinkum, grow tits on a blackboard.)
^^^ This one talks funny.
It’s snowing and cold in Calgary - good weather to stay inside, indeed!
What? Since when?
I think I am getting used to Tromso. It is a fun place but it is difficult to spot. During the day there is a very limited window to go and see something (usually snow but sometimes ice as well. Well, normally, ice as well).
You can’t drink when the sun is over the yardarm as it starts to get dark not long after 1 pm and a lot of places don’t open until 11 am. There is a place here called “Bastard Bar”. I posted a picture on FB.
On thing I can’t work out is the cafes. There seem to be none selling traditional Norwegian food- plenty selling hamburgers and that sort of crap. Maybe that is far preferable to Lutefisk.
Tomorrow night we hope to go on a cruise chasing the Northern Lights.
Oh, fer the luv of - I thought you wrote “Toronto”! I will indeed try to read for comprehension! (I started to catch on when you mentioned them selling traditional Norwegian food. ) :smack:
Your northern light chasing cruise sounds lovely - I don’t know if I should warn you not to get your hopes up, though. I’ve only seen them a handful of times, and I’ve lived 46 years in the north.
I think it is like fishing- we should have been here last week. It has been a bit cloudy so it may be hit and miss. Oh well, if we don’t see them, it is a good excuse to come back.
Did you see any donated African radiators?
I can’t see any snow: http://weather.cs.uit.no/
