The review is [here](http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,21249193-5005368,00.html). (NB PIAF = Perth International Arts Festival, not Edith)

It was a great performance and the audience went berserk at the end. Lots of tears too. We sang it again on Tuesday night in Sydney, at a performance that started half an hour late due to the city-wide gridlock caused by the presence in the harbour of the QM2 and QE2. It will be interesting to see how the Sydney performance, which I thought was even better, is judged.

**Cunctator** , what group are you with? The Sydney Philharmonia Choir? I think my sister sang with that group at one point – I’ll have to ask her.

Congratulations on the success of the concert. I wish I could have been there to see it!

(By the way, do you find the photo illustration or photomontage that accompanies the article in your link to be a little… strange?)

Yes

Not really. It’s the advertising material that we’ve been using both in Perth and in Sydney to promote the War Requiem concerts. It’s a juxtaposition of a contemporary war scene over what I assume is the ruins of Coventry Cathedral. Presumably the idea is that the meaning of the War Requiem is just as relevant today as it was when it was first performed.

Got it. It looked at first glance like an editorial comment by the paper, which would be somewhat unusual for a music review.

I heard it was so bad that some of the audience [walked out](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=409374). 😃
