For those of you who have been following my house story, we got an offer! After being on the market for #!#@# EIGHT MONTHS, we FINALLY got an offer! For those of you who haven’t been following the story, I’ve been trying to sell this bloody house for what seems forever. Last summer and all the summers before that, the market in my neighborhood was HOT. Houses didn’t stay on the market more than 3-4 weeks, and a lot of 'em sold in 2 weeks or less. Of course, we put ours on the market shortly after Sept 11. Since then, a grand total of four houses have sold. Yup, since October, there’s been four sales in our neighborhood. Right now, there’s a glut of homes on the market. Probably 10 in our small neighborhood alone - 3 on my street. Mr. Athena and I decided to be very agressive about 4 weeks ago. We dropped the price to $25K below what similiar homes were listed for when the market was good. I went through the house and made it look like a bloody museum - lots of vases and tasteful artwork. We got the windows washed. We took down curtains so all the rooms looked airy and bright. In short, we’re living in a bloody model home. Everything is beige. Beige seems to sell houses, since, after months and months and months, we got an offer! It’s a GOOD one, too. Only 5K less than we were asking, and they want to close in 3.5 weeks. Seeing as the movers are scheduled to come in 2 weeks, this works out GREAT. There’s still a few things to bicker about - they want my bookshelves! - but nothing that’s a deal breaker. 'course, nothing’s certain until the closing, but all in all, this is great news! U.P., here we come! ---

YAY! What a relief that must be! (I’m thinking positive here - closing will go off without a hitch) I’ll be facing this in another year or so - my concern is when I should put out the sign. I want to time closing for the day after my daughter’s graduation… Yeah, I’m a dreamer. Anyway, Yay and Congrats! Let the packing begin! ---

Athena, Great news! I’ve followed a few of your threads so I know how hard this has been for you. We just sealed the deal on our new house this week so from someone who has just been through some of the same BS I just want to say Congtats! ---

Oh man, I can’t wait to be saying that one myself. (running on just over a month on the market now). 8 MONTHS! WOW! _starts to cry_ Congrats. I hope the offer plays through!!!
