# We got some mail!

It started snowing on Saturday.
Then blizzarding. All day Sunday.
Then it stopped overnight.
Then it started again Monday morning.
Monday afternoon the bosses cut everyone loose. “Go home now, before the roads are impassable. And you don’t have to claim it as vacation or personal time.”
Tuesday morning I could barely get Piper Pup to go out. The snowdrift out the back door was way taller than a mini-Yorkie. She forced a path along the back wall to an appropriate little area.
Driving was more like skating or skiing than motor transport. I kept reminding myself “Drive like you don’t have brakes.” Cause in these conditions, if you brake hard, you’ll wish you hadn’t, ABS be-damned.
Main roads have been ploughed, but we don’t live on a main road. Plough is anticipated on Friday. Until then, lots of semi-packed snow on ice. More driving fun!
Over two feet of snow, front lawn and back lawn. I’ll be digging it away from the foundations this weekend.
Essentially got one winter’s worth of snow in three days.
But today: the mail came.
“We got some mail!”\*.
Civilisation is gradually re-starting. Canada Post, harbinger of order and stability! POGG, indeed.
Whew!

Where are you? I’ve been watching the Brier from Regina and they’ve been having snow, but nothing unusual. We’re supposed to get 15-20 cm overnight in Montreal, perfectly ordinary.
