Wow. That’s even worse than the “9/11 Commemorative Coins” I see hawked on late-night television. On second thought, no it isn’t - at least no one was trying to make a buck off the cake. Still, though. Wow. ---

We had 9-11 candy bars. I brought Twix. I mean, I didn’t bring them for the “holiday”, but I did bring a huge thing of Twix today. Now it’s hilarious. ---

Re the OP, I’m of two minds on this. One the one hand, is this the best way to recognize the day? Myself, I favor observing the day as little as possible… why give the 2001 attacks or those who perpetrated them any more acknowledgment than necessary? Mine seems to be a minority opinion, though, and I certainly respect those who mark the day with solemnity and reflection. Regardless, I don’t think this served either approach very well. On the other hand: cake. I love cake. ---

At least the person who brought the cake had good intentions. The coins, plates, pins, assorted chotckies etc are disgusting. ---
