Do you give moderators a test on technical knowledge? Like how to use a slide rule? Transistor radio? New Math? Use of a vacuum tube tester? ---

I don’t know about the others, but I had to learn all that stuff when I was a kid. (I remember the TV vacuum tube testers they used to have at the drug store where you could diagnose whether one of your tubes was bad.) ---

ETA: BTW, BOGO is standard jargon in the retail business for “Buy One, Get One” ---

I managed to avoid new math, but I did learn how to use a slide rule, I’ve built transistor radios, and like **Colibri** I remember vacuum tube testers in the local drug store. I think the only thing that tests is whether or not we’re old. ---

Welcome to the world of moderating GQ. Most of your day will consist of moving threads to IMHO and gently reminding people that they’re not in GD. The remainder will consist of bringing the other GQ mods cold beer (I prefer Guinness or any good Scottish Ale) and barbecued ribs. Also, I’ve got this itch I can’t reach right by my left shoulder blade.
