I understand why they’re there, but that doesn’t mean I have to like them. And I can assure you that I won’t be clicking any of the ads, though. ---

You do realize that you pay a whopping $0.41 per day for the priviledge of interacting with a lot if smart, well educated funny people? You pay to ride the bus, it has ads inside and out. You pay to go to the movies, ads there too. Tune them out. So, there’s a 1 1/2 in. box at the bottom of each page, ignore it. ---

Okay, so I am keeping an eye on the scroll bar on the right of my screen so I don’t have to look at the ads. It’s getting close to the bottom, which means it’s getting to the end of the page. I’ve measured it JUST before the ad shit starts and it measures one in…MOTHERFUCKER! Okay, I am approaching the end of the page, and I have measured the appearance of the ads at 7/8 of an inc…GODFUCKINDAMMIT!! Okay, I’ll get back to you… ---

Why couldn’t they have tried ads before subscriptions, though? They told us ads didn’t work. Not to mention, why can’t they put the ads at the top righthand side of the page, right under the logo, like MOST sites do, rather than at the end of the thread? If you’re skimming fast, it looks almost like another post. NOT cool. ---

Well, they still don’t have a prominent link to the SD store or the SD column on the front page. They haven’t tried any “softcafe” style SDMB merchandising. I would have no problem with the ads if they had been a plan C or D. But why as plan B after plan A was pay-to-post? Seems like the admin is determined to choose revenue sources most offensive to the membership. I, for one, can take the hint. ---
