While listening to [Munchcast](http://twit.tv/mc12), I realized that we _need_ a bacon beverage! Oh, sure, you could add [Bacon Salt](http://baconsalt.com/) to a Bloody Mary, I suppose, but really, as the noblest of meats, bacon deserves better. To be really worthy of bacon, the drink needs to be something that Sam Spade would knock back on his way to the office, to wake him up in the morning, and then, in the afternoon, after he realizes that yet another dame has betrayed him, he can add some burboun to it. So, any of the Doper kitchen wizards out there have any ideas? ---

Try a smoked beer, especially one from Aecht Schlenkerla (I think I spelled that right). They have a definite baconesque flavor. ---

Bizarrely enough, when thinking about sausage gravy this morning I was wondering if anybody makes a bacon gravy. Not exactly a “beverage”… but it _could_ be. 😉 ---

After reading this thread, I made myself a banana smoothie with two slices of crisp bacon and a small spoonful of peanut butter blended in. It wasn’t entirely loathesome, but I don’t think it’s what you have in mind either. ---

I just posted a suggestion at the Jones Soda website. I’m sure they can be convinced by a grass rootst…sorry, _ham bone_ effort, to develop a bacon soda. ---

At first I was leaning towards a sort of Tia Maria of Bacon - something to sip with cream at night or with coffee in the morning replacing the Carnation Instant breakfast. Then my thoughts turned to the peaty smoldered flavor of the Irish whiskies. Seems to me that adding an ‘essence du bacon’ and a touch of maple syrup to enhance the hickory smoke paired with fried pork rinds and brie would make the perfect French Redneck lunch. Finally, Bacon Beer began to take shape. A rich, deep beer with a creamyness to offset the salty smokey middle notes - a compression, if you will, of all that is bacon with the yeasty beerness. That’s when I decided this vegetarian thing prolly wasn’t working out for me. ---
